SERJ TANKIAN And MIKE PATTON Collaborate On 'Lies' Song
October 1, 2008SYSTEM OF A DOWN singer Serj Tankian and former FAITH NO MORE vocalist Mike Patton have collaborated on a new song called "Bird's Eye", which will appear on the soundtrack of the upcoming movie "Body of Lies". The track, which was co-written with composer Marc Streitenfeld, was sent digitally to radio stations on Tuesday (September 30). "Bird's Eye" will play during the film's closing credits. A new track from GUNS N' ROSES, called "If The World", is also reportedly going to be heard at the end of the movie as well.
Tankian, who issued his solo debut "Elect the Dead" last year, has recorded songs for films and dabbled in scoring as well. He told The Pulse of Radio it's all part of his diverse musical interests. "I've made enough rock records, I think, for a little while for me to be able to kind of go, okay, you know, I wanna try different things," he said. "I write all sorts of music, from electronic to noise to experimental to punk to hip-hop to you name it, you know. I do a lot of different things, so I'd like to explore different genres."
"Body of Lies", a terrorism thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, comes out on October 10.
Tankian spent much of the last year touring behind "Elect the Dead" and may document the highlights in a DVD featuring videos, live performances and behind-the-scenes footage.
The singer is working with playwright Steven Sater on the score for a musical called "Prometheus Bound", and also plans to record a jazz album.
